Lake Raven…Finally!

Part 1: The Dry Run

Hey guys, Red Barron here!  We have been trying to get up to Lake Raven at the Huntsville State Park in Texas for the last 2 weeks.  With an injured spouse, tropical storm Cindy, and lightning, we were delayed.  We threw a video together of our so-called “dry run” to test out the new Git Up Git2 camera for your viewing pleasure below.

Part 2: Full Speed Ahead.. At Idle!

Big Mike, Low Man Mario, and myself were finally able to make the trip down to Lake Raven!  We loaded up and headed out to a lake reported by Texas Parks and Wildlife as being excellent for Largemouth Bass, and stocked with the ever desired Florida-strain.  lake raven1

The small size of Lake Raven (only approx. 200 acres) means that the lake is speed limited to only idle speed.  That’s tough for someone who likes to be givin’er all the time!lake raven4

We roll up to a beautiful lake, the kind of water that is glass.  Time to start fishing!  So, after several hours of fishing and sweating, all we have to speak for is dead camera batteries, plenty of joking around, and some quality relaxation away from the hustle and bustle.lake raven3

I managed to hook into a 4 foot gator with a white shad fluke… but thank goodness the hook didn’t set!  What a fight!  The stories were true, gators everywhere!  Follow our antics below!  We promise, no lures were harmed during the making of this video!
