Lake Granbury Toads – Fishing with Red Barron’s Dad!

Hey guys, Red Barron here!  Just before new year’s, the wife and I went to visit my family up in Granbury, Texas for a few days.  It was cold, windy, and overcast, but the itch to wet a line was just too great to ignore.  We were literally less than a mile from Lake Granbury with Ol’ Blue in tow!

Of course, my dad was the one that got me hooked on fishing.  From an early age, I can remember going to the “local” lakes and having a good time.  And, by local, I mean at least 1.5 hours or more away.  We fished in bass tournaments with the local Bass Clubs, and went to a few of the larger tournaments as well.  We are in no way strangers to fishing in adverse conditions…  But it was cold on this trip!

Because it was so cold, we didn’t go very far from the marina.  After a good lunch at the marina, we put the boat in and went just down the shore a ways.  122917 Lake Granbury RB MB2

The water temp was relatively cold.  I always like when people say “Isn’t it too cold to go fishing?”  I always reply with “Well, the fish still gotta eat!”  Because fish are cold blooded, their body temperature and metabolism will slow down during colder conditions.  But because they are living organisms, they must still eat!  Of course the old man with the experience put the beat down on the youngster!122917 Lake Granbury RB MB3

And the slaughter didn’t stop there!  He pulled out his secret weapon for dreary days!  Follow along below to find out more!  We’ll see you next time on the water!  Remember, you’re not livin’ unless you’re Just Givin’er!!
